WHO BENEFITS FROM ATTACK ON LOCAL ZONING?

OPPORTUNISTIC POLITICIANS

Those who divert attention away from their inability to enact effective public policy and instead wreak havoc across our state with a manufactured crisis to wrest control of local zoning.

HOUSING ACTIVISTS

They are launching a two-pronged attack:
•  Lobbying for onerous zoning legislation which allows onerous “as of right” high density development that gives them standing in litigation against municipalities with monetary awards, and would drain the money our towns need to operate, impacting our mill rates and property taxes.  
•  They are joining a lawsuit against the town of Woodbridge to allow the development of four-family project in single family zoning. This precedent setting case could end single family zoning in the entire country forever.

PREDATORY BUILDERS

​Who would get massive as-of-right building access to our towns and cities, disregarding our town charters, ordinances, and financial realities. One-size-fits-all zoning policy mandated by the state will result in overburdening of local infrastructure, higher property taxes and/or potentially diminished services.
